Top Grades!

Edit 4 is finally complete and it looks better than your mum. One of the three new suites on the 1st floor, Edit 4 is our new grading suite using the Final Touch colouring system with tangent controllers. These are made up of levers, spinney-ball things, flashing “Don’t Press” buttons and other bits that give the whole room a sort of Space 1999 feeling, as well as the Tektronix signal monitoring which appears to measure the gravity of black holes.

The 18% grey air-conditioned environs with blackout blinds could make you feel like you were in one of these black holes, so we’ve installed a Panasonic 50″ plasma more powerful than the sun.

To see if Final Cut Pro could rise to the challenge of handling a 2K project, we edited a 60 second commercial for the London Film School on it, which celebrates their fiftieth anniversary. The project was shot on Anamorphic 35mm film and digitally scanned by Technicolor to DPX files, then onlined and graded at Pogo using Final Touch 2K. The result was so breathtakingly beautiful I think we all shed a tear.

So, to summarise , Edit 4 is pretty snizzy-snazzy fancy pants, with enough screens to give you a tan.
