Vengaboys Erupt With Pogo Films’ 3D

Pogo Films successfully undertook all FX work and online delivery to Stereoscopic 3D on the Vengaboys comeback track, “Rocket to Uranus”.

Brought in by director, Andy Soup at Spring 69, the promo is a high energy, effect laden romp of colour and comedy. Hollywood gossip blogger, Perez Hilton travels space to help the dance band’s liberation of a friendly planet whilst Celebrity, Pete Burns, plays an evil character who seeks to prevent them!

“…if you [are] thinking about making any sort of Stereoscopic film (and this science IS the most important step in cinemas evolution since recorded sound) then Pogo should be your first port of call.”; ANDY SOUP, Director

“When the bright idea of shooting ‘Rocket To Uranus’ in Stereoscopic 3D…popped into my naive, unprepared little mind, I had no idea what I was letting myself in for… Making Stereographic 3Dimensional films is an art and there is no magic button to press” says Andy Soup, Director.

He wanted the underlying theme of the promo to be high energy and fun. Colourist and Senior Editor, Jamie Dickinson worked with Pogo’s Rob Dixon to get through 84 consecutive cgi shots; Each one being multiple layers of Live action, model shoot, Computer 3D and composited backgrounds – All of these in stereoscopic 3D involving significant eye-balancing and tidying.

Pogo split the work between two suites, compositing through After Effects and then stereo-checking and delivering through their Quantel iQ. The finished result was delivered on HD-CAM SR and was released on June 6th.

“It has been a long and complicated job, but we completed it very effectively and most succesfully. All of our team have really proven themselves to be exceptional and i cannot wait to offer our services to an ever increasing roster of clients. I truly think they will be very lucky people indeed!” Says Philip Richardson, MD Pogo Films Ltd.
