April 2009

BAFTA nominated BBC documentary “Bryony Makes a Zombie Movie” from Hat Trick was Offlined, Onlined and Graded at Pogo films by Will Hodgson.

The documentary follows Bryony Matthewman, (who had previously built up a huge international following on Youtube by posting her one-woman comedy sketches on the site) as she attempts to make the world’s first User Generated Content Zombie Movie. This meant that people from all over the world would work together to create a zombie movie by working remotely. The documentary follows the highs and lows of this endeavour.

As the project was made using FCP, with the initial prep completed in-house at Hat Trick using FCP and then both the Offline and Online finished at Pogo Films using FCP. Will found this work flow partiality smooth and simple. The other advantage of using FCP for this project was that as a variety of different sourced footage was used, from DV, to Mpeg and Internet. FCP could use all the different sources in the same timeline with no converting.

Footnote: Although unsuccessful at Sunday's BAFTAs, Bryony rocks big time!
