Will

Having spent a good part of my youth captivated by cinema and videos, I decided to study Film at the University of Kent. I graduated with a first in Film and Philosophy and won the Keith Jones award for philosophy. I was awarded a grant by the AHRB to study a Masters in Film at the same place.

I taught myself FCP and began to work as a freelance editor. Breaking into the broadcast world was proving elusive so I googled 'FCP' and 'London'. Pogo films came up. I liked what I saw. Joined as a Technical Runner and now look at me!

CASE STUDY
Whilst working on Sisterhood, a feature film, I had some helicopter shots to be smoothed. Stabilising a single point so that it was totally static and putting the camera move back in, without the shake, proved okay, but not quite perfect.  I then tried using the smoothcam node in Shake, which gave good results, but still not quite right.

Then it hit me that the footage had been time stretched by the offline editor and that this time remapping had been baked into my online media. When i got the proper rushes, i used Shake to smooth the shot, the results were excellent.

Check it out!
